Five more years!

After much speculation and anticipation on the future of the Stern Show when Howard’s contract is up at the end of the year, the radio host announced he has signed on with SiriusXM for another five-year deal.

Helping break the news on Tuesday was Mariann from Brooklyn. “I can’t believe this is happening to me, holy shit,” she said while opening a secure lock box that contained Howards decision. “I’m a wreck, I apologize.”

Struggling dramatically with getting the safe open despite figuring out the secret code of 6-9-3-9 (69 for Ronnie “the Limo Driver” Mund’s favorite number and 39 for the number of years Howard and co-host Robin Quivers have been together), Mariann eventually discovered a piece of paper that simply said “staying.”

“I knew it!” she screamed. “Congratulations.”

“Radio is my love, it’s been great to me,” Howard said of the choice to continue broadcasting the Stern Show on SiriusXM.

After Howard delivered a detailed statement on his decision and thanked everyone who works on the show, several staff members chimed in to give their thoughts.

“Absolutely up for it,” Fred Norris said of working with Howard for another five years. “This show is just important to people – it’s important to me … this has really been such a monumental experience and everybody should be so lucky.”

“It’s the only full-time job I’ve ever had,” Stern Show executive producer Gary Dell’Abate added before recalling to Howard the struggles they’ve endured together as a radio team. “We’ve been buried so many times over the years and you’ve always prevailed and come out stronger and better.”

Ronnie, who is set to retire to Las Vegas sometime next year, was sentimental. “It’s been a long road for me with you,” he told Howard. “I’m very honored to be part of this show even though I get my balls busted … I’m very emotional about it right now because my life is coming down the line.”

Both Richard Christy and JD Harmeyer gave credit to Howard for having direct impacts on their lives. “This is amazing,” Richard said through tears. “You saved my life. I was living in a fucking storage unit … this is an incredible day.”

“This show has given me pretty much everything in my life and I appreciate that,” JD added. “I’m very happy to work for you and work with you.”

At the end of the day, Howard showed appreciation for those who make the Stern Show possible – the people who listen. “I want to thank this audience,” he noted. “Because of you guys we have a career. You’ve maintained interest in us and if your interest wasn’t there, we wouldn’t have careers.”
