VIDEO: Courteney Cox, David Arquette, and Neve Campbell Fend Off a New Killer in Final ‘Scream’ Trailer

Slasher sequel hits theaters on Thursday

January 11, 2022

Courteney Cox, David Arquette, and Neve Campbell attempt to survive another round of brutal murders in the final trailer for “Scream,” opening on Thursday.

Set 25 years after the trailblazing (and identically titled) original flick, “Scream” follows Sidney Prescott (Campbell), newswoman turned true crime author Gale Weathers (Cox), and officer Dewey Riley (Arquette), a trio of survivors from the previous films who must once again unravel a mystery surrounding a masked serial killer wreaking havoc upon their otherwise idyllic small town.

Billed as both a relaunch and a direct sequel to 2010’s “Scream 4,” the Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett-directed film is the slasher franchise’s first installment helmed by anyone other than horror legend Wes Craven, who died in 2015. The new film stars newcomers Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, Sonia Ammar, Dylan Minnette, and Jack Quaid, among others, as the next generation of youngsters to face off against Woodsboro’s Ghostface mask-wearing killer.

“There are certain rules to surviving,” Arquette’s character instructs them at one point (above). “Believe me, I know. They always come back. The killer is a part of something in the past.”

“Scream” debuts Thursday, Jan. 14 in theaters.
