“I set a bunch of goals for myself … all of my goals were not met,” he says of summer hiatus

After a well-deserved summer break, Howard and his co-host Robin Quivers were live on the air together Tuesday morning with a ton to talk about.

“Sort of weird to be back in the sense that I set a bunch of goals for myself … all of my goals were not met,” Howard said of the relatively easy objectives, including cleaning his closet and taking pictures around where he lives for painting purposes. “There’s evidently near me very, very interesting, beautiful scenarios where I can paint … as far as I get is my backyard.”

Howard went on to thank the plethora of special guests who held down Howard 100 and Howard 101 this summer with programming. In addition to specials from actors Ice-T, Danny Trejo, and comedian Dana Carvey, Howard also praised concerts from Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Weezer, Cheap Trick, Metallica, and Brandi Carlile. “I must have listened to this 50 times this summer—it was an amazing, tight 45-minute set,” Howard said of Brandi’s special on Howard 101.

Additionally, Howard mentioned Gay, Straight, and Who Knows hosted by Chris Wilding, Ronnie Mund, and Ralph Cirella, as well as Big Dick Energy with Medicated Pete, a full radio special staring the longtime Wack Packer. “He actually turned out to be pretty frigging good at it … he even did like a little bit of prep,” Howard explained of Pete’s hosting duties. “He wasn’t good at small talk but then he interviewed his own mother about his large penis, and I found that fascinating.”
