Gerard Butler Tries Saving the Earth From Space in New ‘Geostorm’ Trailer

Andy Garcia and Ed Harris also star in the upcoming disaster film, in theaters Oct. 20

Gerard Butler is tasked with saving the world while he’s stuck in outer space in the latest trailer for Warner Bros’ upcoming disaster flick “Geostorm.”

The new trailer begins all peaceful-like: mankind is fighting global warming with an intricate network of climate-controlling satellites, run by Butler from orbit. When something goes wrong, however, the satellites go on a rampage and threaten to take out the Earth in the process.

Directed by “Independence Day” co-writer Dean Devlin, the film also stars Oscar nominees Ed Harris and Andy Garcia, along with Abbie Cornish, Jim Sturgess, Daniel Wu, and Alexandra Maria Lara.

Butler, star of films like “300” and “Olympus Has Fallen,” last visited the Stern Show in 2013. During an appearance in 2011, Gerard told Howard how the movie “Trainspotting” inspired him to become an actor. Click here for more from that interview.

“Geostorm” hits theaters Oct. 20. Check out the new trailer (above).
