VIDEO: See the Trailer for Matt Groening’s ‘Disenchantment’ Starring Abbi Jacobson and Eric Andre

“Simpsons” and “Futurama” creator’s new animated comedy debuts Aug. 17 on Netflix

July 2, 2018

Netflix has dropped the debut trailer for “Disenchantment,” the digital streamer’s upcoming animated series from “Simpsons” creator Matt Groening.

Set in a medieval fantasy realm called Dreamland, the cartoon comedy stars “Broad City’s” Abbi Jacobson as a hard-drinking young princess named Bean, repeat Stern Show guest Eric Andre as her personal demon Luci, and “Father of the Year’s” Nat Flaxon as their feisty elf companion, Elfo. Over the course of a 10-episode first season, the motley trio is said to encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, and apparently a bevy of human fools.

While “Disenchantment’s” short teaser (above) is slim on details, the style of the animation is heavily reminiscent of Groening’s previous uber-successful shows, “The Simpsons” and “Futurama.” When actor and voiceover artist Hank Azaria made his Stern Show debut in 2017, he spoke to Howard all about working with Groening on “The Simpsons.” He also revealed the origins for many of his most infamous characters, including Chief Wiggum, Apu, and Moe the bartender. Watch a clip from his sit-down with Howard (below).
